The shield is a mud guard “barrier” to protect you against water and wet soil from the ground while cycling, which would inevitably ruin your comfort. The mud guard, built into the saddle, does not compromise the comfort offered by the Open Fit cut-out, guaranteeing to relieve pressure on the perineum.
