The Traka 2026: Metallurgica Veneta debuts with Selle San Marco gravel setup

There is always a moment before the start of a race when a bike already tells the story of a team’s direction. For the Metallurgica Veneta Pro Team, that moment came in Girona ahead of The Traka, where the team officially unveiled the new Merida Mission “Team Edition” for its first step into gravel racing.

A project designed for rough terrain, constant pace changes and long-distance cycling comfort, developed as a complete gravel bike setup for modern endurance gravel racing.

Among the key elements of the setup was the ongoing collaboration with Selle San Marco. For the bike presentation, Metallurgica Veneta Pro Team could choose between several models from the Shortfit collection, including the Shortfit Allroad, the new Selle San Marco gravel saddle developed specifically for gravel riding, combining comfort, stability and control on long-distance and high-vibration terrain.

The Metallurgica Veneta Pro Team’s first gravel racing experience also became an important testing ground. Events like The Traka demand a gravel performance saddle capable of adapting to constantly changing surfaces, where endurance, ergonomics and stability are as important as speed.

Within this context, the Shortfit family continues to demonstrate its versatility in competitive gravel cycling. From the gravel-focused design of the Shortfit Allroad to the race-proven solutions used during competition, Selle San Marco’s development approach is closely aligned with the real needs of modern gravel performance.

The results came immediately. In the demanding The Traka 200, Eskil Evensen-Lie delivered an outstanding performance, finishing 7th overall and confirming the competitiveness of the Metallurgica Veneta Pro Team in its first major international gravel race. A result that highlights not only the rider’s preparation, but also the importance of a gravel saddle and setup designed for efficiency, control and long-distance cycling comfort.
